When you visit your favorite ecommerce store, you may wonder how’d they get there, and how’d they navigate the arduous path to seven-figure revenue. It's tough because a lot of these successful store owners don’t document their process. So, a lot of these self-proclaimed ecommerce experts come in and charge a premium for courses that address common concerns in Ecommerce. Fortunately, several thought-leaders in ecommerce use podcasts to share their knowledge on topics relevant to business owners. So, I have put together a collection of ecommerce podcasts that all store owners should find insightful and worthwhile.
One of the best podcasts to start with is Winning with Shopify. The host Caroline is a marketing-oriented Shopify expert who runs a marketing agency for smaller businesses. Marketing plays a massive role in the success of every business especially on the web, because marketing helps get the attention of potential customers. Overall, her tips and advice can help broaden your perspective on the inner workings of a successful ecommerce store. She also brings experts in other areas of ecommerce to provide a clearer picture of what matters in ecommerce.
Another podcast that I recommend is the Unofficial Shopify Podcast. I appreciate this podcast because the host brings a holistic perspective of ecommerce. Kurt knows a little marketing, a little development, but he speaks business. In other words, he’s good at wrapping all the marketing, development, and optimization into the bigger picture. He goes into various topics, and brings thought-leaders from various industries to drop gems for store owners in different stages of their journey. He also helps bring to light on trends in ecommerce. His business is all about scaling other online stores, so his audience is primarily for people who are further along in their ecommerce journey. But, he still drops very useful advice for small business owners.
The last podcast that I will recommend for small business owners is “My Wife Quit Her Job”. I recommend this podcast for everyone because the host is a vet in the ecommerce field. He has been teaching people how to replicate the success he had selling handkerchiefs on the online. To be honest, I recently started listening to his podcast, but I’ve been reading his blog for a while. I really appreciate his advice and the amount of content that he has, and I think he puts out a lot of content. Like some of the other podcasts listed, he interviews industry leaders in various topics of ecommerce.
Either way, there are certainly more podcasts in ecommerce. I chose my five based on popularity and quality of content. All these guys provide insight into the anatomy of a successful ecommerce store. Depending on your style of learning, you may find one podcast more enjoyable than the others. Either way, the goal should be to absorb as many gems as possible and put them to practice.
